Protecting
Asset Value
Today's economy and ever-changing marketplace requires the
timely sale of property to avoid the erosion of equity. Bankers know
that special assets can cost them 30 to 50 percent a year. Attorneys
know that the auction method of marketing, in response to court-ordered situations, will ensure openness, with all parties treated
equally.
Prestbye Auction Company believes in full-disclosure and consent at
every step of the auction market process as the best way to eliminate
misunderstandings. We will not, under any circumstances, promise
anything we cannot produce faithfully and fully.

Kudos for Prestbye's
On Tuesday, July 9, 1996, the Property Services
Division of King County conducted a live auction of surplus Kingdome
stadium and concessionaire equipment.
Some of the hundreds of items auctioned included the
official ticket raffle drum used from the first Kingdome Final Four in
1984, soccer goal frames, yard markers and Seiko timers, four basketball
glass backboards with hoops, old Sonic court side chairs, 31 pallets of
black & white and color television sets, football goal line and down
markers, popcorn poppers and warmers, a barbecue trailer with propane
tanks, acoustical baffles, menu boards, and old cash register, vending
trays and more.
King County contracted with the Prestbye's Auctions
and Appraisals to auction the proceedings, which will be the first live
auction of Kingdome equipment in 20 years. In the past, sealed bids were
used to dispose of surplus items which took three to six months to
process. Recently, storage space at the Kingdome has been at a premium
as many items have been surplused on a normal maintenance schedule.

Dear Mr. Prestbye:
Regarding the auction held January 8, I want to thank
you for your effort in selling our surplus material. Any help in
disposing of unwanted material is an ongoing problem with all public
agencies, and the myriad of procedures which have to be followed before
reaching the final step of disposal is very time consuming.
Although, not everything was sold and the proceeds
meager, it lessens our dump fees.
Thank you for your work well done.
Sincerely,
Alf E. Coransson

Dear Fergus:
A million thanks for the grand job you did in
presenting Seattle Goodwill's first Antiques and Collectibles Auction in
over 20 years. We are astounded at the prices realized for many of the
items; we would never have raised so much money just selling those
things through our stores. Thanks to your fine work, our vocational
training program and adult education center are in much better financial
shape! Another side benefit of the auction is that we're seeing a large
number of regular new customers who attended the auction but had not
been customers in our stores before.
Please extend our warm thanks also to Sally and Jane
for the vital parts they played from the time the auction began until
wrap-up, eight and one-half intense but enjoyable hours later. What
stamina!
We are looking forward to working with you again for
our next fine art auction in June.
Sincerely,
Lorraine Weeks

Dear Fergus:
Enclosed is our receipt for the auction proceeds which
you turned in to the Everett School District.
We appreciate the good job you and your staff did for
the District. Your willingness to take responsibility for all aspects of
the sale, from set up to final closure, resulted in a pleasant
experience for the District.
Personally, I was impressed with the way you conducted
the auction. You provided an atmosphere in which people seemed
comfortable participating.
We look forward to working with you and your staff
again.
Sincerely,
Byron Viger

Dear Fergus,
I want to thank you for the fine job your company did
on our October 19, auction. It was an interesting experience and a very
smooth operation thanks to your excellent crews. The crew that came in
to arrange and mark the different lots was fast, efficient and nice to
work with. Some of that same crew was back on the auction day, plus the
staff who actually registers the participants and handles the computers
and proceeds. It is quite impressive to have all of the auction items
computerized and the participants registered in and computerized, also.
Those who came to buy at the auction were also a great
group of people. I understand that several of them were your regular
auction buyers. Interesting how many different professions and
businesses are out that we don't know about until we get involved in
something outside of our usual little world.
Again, thank you for conducting a very successful
auction.
