Fundraising Auction Timeline

Give enough time for planning to optimize your auction efforts. Usually, this is a six to 12 month time frame.

6-12 months prior

Recruit your event planning team and set the date.

Recruit your donations team and provide them with donation receipt forms. Provide healthy competition and incentives for donation recruitment.
Know your bidders and give them what they want. 

Publicize the auction

3-6 months prior

Book your auctioneer, negotiating fees.
  1. Does the auctioneer have experience in fundraising/charity auctions?
  2. Does the auctioneer have a good reputation with previous clients?
  3. How receptive is the auctioneer to your input?
  4. Will the auction firm take responsibility for check out?
  5. Can the firm receipt credit cards?
  6. Will the same person provide consulting from the beginning to end of your planning?
  7. Will the auction firm meet all necessary time deadlines?
